Ah Eng Curry Mee

Sat, 11-Jul-09. Met up with Ying’s family at Taiping. Our favorite rendezvous spot is at Ah Eng Curry Mee shop. Now it is tricky getting to this place as the shop doesn’t have a sign board. Customers are regulars. This shop is popular for dry curry mee which cost less than RM3.00 a bowl. They also serve ‘hong tau sar’ or red bean soup. Go and try if you are near Kamunting. You don’t have to go all the way to Kuala Sepetang for the famous curry mee. GPS Coordinates: N04º53.452′ E100º44.015′.

Sat, 6-Jun-09. We went to the National Horse Show at Penang Turf Club. There were many activities lined up. For the equestrian enthusiasts, the competition was on. We briefly watched the dressage event.

You could take a poney ride, or go on a horse carriage. There was a breed display - different breeds of horses including a donkey. Visitors could also see how a horse shoe is being made. The furnace is really hot! To set the carnival atmosphere, the organizers brought in clowns and included band performances.

Good fun for the family!

Update on Nissan Grand Livina 1.8 A/T Fuel Consumption

My car will turn 1 year old 24-Jun-09. So far it has clocked more than 23000km. I’ve switched to semi-synthetic engine oil for the last 2 services. My grey horse has served me well so far. It carried 6 adults and 1 child to Koh Samui and back safely. I pump my front tyres to 36psi and 39psi for the back. This gave a pretty comfortable ride.

High Tea at Makanan Traditional Taiwan (Yong He Dou Jiang)

Sat, 6-Jun-09. We made a trip back to Ipoh for the long weekend. Upon reaching Ipoh, we had high tea at Makanan Traditional Taiwan (Yong He Dou Jiang) at Medan Ipoh Bistari. As you exit the NS Highway at Ipoh Selatan south-bound, it is after McDonald’s and behind PC Depot. GPS Coordinates: N04º 37.204′, E101º 7.042′. As the name suggests, they serve traditional Taiwanese cuisine and soya milk. We had Thick Soup Noodle, Pan Fried Radish Cake and Egg Roll. As for drinks, we tried Soya Milk Plain and Soya Rice Milk. The Soya Rice Milk has a nice fragrance - recommended. My only complaint is that they don’t provide chili sauce.
